7/3/22: Moon Viewing

I spotted the moon tonight through a pair of 10x50 Tasco binoculars and my celestron 70mm backpacker scope. It’s a simple refractor, but with the sights I saw tonight it is probably my favorite scope at the moment.
I got very clear views of Mare Fecunditatus and Mare Nectaris (I think… I’m still new to this.) The moon looks to be about 1/8 waxing, so there should be more good moon sightings ahead. I’m going to prepare to do some sketching of the moon tomorrow night, I think. It’s going to be a good time.
For now though, I’m going to go back out and just look at the milky way! (The farm I live on is a Bortle 3 space… :-D )
